Principal Investigator (Discovery Project Leader)

Mission

Almirall is a global pharmaceutical company with a focus on Medical Dermatology. Our goal is to develop novel therapeutic drugs to treat a wide range of dermatological conditions and improve the quality of life for millions of patients worldwide. As such our Research & Development team, based in Barcelona, is looking for a highly motivated scientist to help identify new target opportunities and to lead pre-clinical drug discovery projects.

Tasks and Responsibilities

You are a driven individual with an in-depth understanding of inflammatory immune disease mechanisms. An individual that can apply your scientific skills to develop new biological hypotheses that could be developed into new dermatological drug development projects.

• You will work in a highly cross-functional environment and be an effective project team leader
• Develop project plans up to pre-clinical phase
• Oversee development of drug(s) and ensure fulfills expected target profile
• Build biological rationale and reason to believe for each project
• Contribute and lead efforts to gain additional biological understanding in the diseases of interest.
• Develop novel therapeutic hypotheses that can help initiate new drug discovery projects.
• Contribute to scientific evaluation of external opportunities.
• · Build and maintain effective relationships and collaborations with academic and industry collaborators and advisors.

Education & Experience

• Ph.D. in relevant scientific area and ~3 years of experience in an industrial or academic environment.
• Sound background in immunology and translational research with impactful research experience demonstrated by high-quality publications, patents, and/or presentations at national/international conferences.
• Preference will be given to candidates with experience in translational dermatology, and with experience in drug discovery in small molecules, biologics, mRNA or cell therapies.
