Data Office team has the mission to help Almirall become a Data Driven company, by democratizing people data and insights (both analytics and advanced analytics / AI) across the company, to drive a cultural shift towards evidence-based people decision making at all levels of the organization. In an era of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Internet of Things, it is vital for Almirall to exploit efficiently its data assets to improve, evolve and compete.

Reporting to the Data & AI Governance Leader, the data governance manager / specialist is the global responsible for helping Almirall’s data & AI governance program implementation. This involves implementing policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure that data is managed effectively, securely, and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a comprehensive data and AI governance framework that aligns with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
  • Implementing data governance policies and procedures defined, including data quality standards, data classification, data retention policies, ensuring we are compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders across the organization to establish and enforce data governance standards and guidelines. Ensure those key stakeholders are accountable for their data domain. This includes training in case it is necessary.
  • Participating in the development of Almirall’s Data Marketplace (DAMA), receiving inputs from main stakeholders, helping on the prioritization of requirements and include them for IT execution, as part of product design and evolution.
  • Conducting regular audits and assessments of data governance processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

  • Developing and delivering training programs to ensure that all employees understand their responsibilities for managing and protecting data.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication channels with stakeholders to ensure that data governance policies and procedures are understood and followed.
  • Identifying and managing risks related to data and AI governance, including data breaches and non-compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Keeping up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data governance and making recommendations for their adoption.
  • Overall, be part of the data and AI governance team as a key player in ensuring that an organization's data is managed effectively and in compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The role requires a deep understanding of data governance principles and best practices, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the organization.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data governance or a related field, being part of its implementation.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices, including data classification, data quality, data retention, and data security.
  • Experience of working in complex international projects with several stakeholders, operational branches in several countries (preferred). 
  • Experience in data management: be familiar with data architecture, data modeling, data integration, data analysis, and data visualization.
  • Regulatory compliance knowledge: understanding of data-related regulations and standards, such as GDPR.
  • Good communication skills: communicate effectively with stakeholders across the organization, business users, and technical staff, including the ability to present technical results to a non-technical audience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: be able to analyze complex data-related problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, information management, or business administration.
