Position Summary/Mission

The National Commercial Manager is accountable for developing profitable business opportunities with national wholesalers, pharmacy chains and tender/contract departments in the NHS and building sales for Almirall's full range of products across the retail, wholesaler and private sectors. Manages levels of stock held at wholesaler depot and Pre-wholesaler level in order to maintain sales and continuous supply to patients.

Core Responsibilities

  • Produce a National Commercial Plan for promoted and non-promoted brands aligned to company strategy, that inpcorporates SMART objcetives, strategy, tactical plans, and budgets. Review and update quarterly.
  • Delivery of objectives within allocated and spend and resources, resolving key issues as they arise
  • Lead tender and contract negotiations with NHS departments
  • Negotiate and implement commercial deals with accounts that maximise profitability and return on investment
  • Establish, maintain and manage a network of contacts at all levels within accounts, developing a good understanding of their objectives, strategies and expectations
  • Establish and maintain a database of local and regional contracts and tenders, when they renew and the processes involved
  • Responsibility for managing Online retailer relationships, negotiations and promotions
  • Create and implement optimal strategies for brands off or coming off patent
  • Develop and implement innovative projects which support strategy and improve patient care in out key therapeutic area for current and new product launches
  • Work with European and global counterparts to develop projects and accounts that benefit the overall Almirall business
  • Manage all interactions with UK Pre-Wholesaler, including management of stock stored, customer ordering and incoming shipments of all products including OTC, medicines, Prescription Only Medicines and Medical devices stored to ensure sales targets are met and continuous supply of medicines to the trade
  • Provides support for our Customer's Intermediary and is named on the duty deferment account as the contact person
  • Ongoing monitoring of sales product and account to ensure company sales objectives are achieved on a monthly basis 
  • Manage, with key stakeholder support, current and new contract negotiations to ensure Almirall's best commercial interest is upheld
  • Manage teh Irish distributor to ensure ongoing sales and stock availability to Irish wholesalers, pharmacies and hospitals
  • Budget responsibility to produce a yearly Distribution budget, including all logistic sectors and homecare services
  • Manage homecare service providers to ensure they maintain adequate stock levels, monitoring on a weekly basis ordering patterns per provider
  • Ensure all administration tasks are completed on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis as required.

Required Education and Experience

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years pharmaceutical experience  with a track record of delivery
  • Has a working knowledge of GDP, Import and Export regulation and legislation and receives ongoing training
  • A strong track record of negotiating contracts, discounts and tenders with key accounts, including wholesalers and hospitals
  • Ideally experience in generic defence strategies
  • In depth knowledge of dermatology and other important disease areas
  • Detailed understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice and other relevant regulations and their practical application in a business environment
  • Computer literacy
  • Full driving licence
