Data Scientist Senior Manager - HQ - Spain

Mission

Data Office team has the mission to help Almirall become a Data Driven company, by democratizing people data and insights (both analytics and advanced analytics / AI) across the company, to drive a cultural shift towards evidence-based people decision making at all levels of the organization. In an era of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Internet of Things, it is vital for Almirall to exploit efficiently its data assets to improve, evolve and compete.

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist Senior Manager to lead our data science team and drive the development of advanced analytical solutions. The Data Scientist Senior Manager will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for the data science function and ensuring that it aligns with the overall business goals and objectives. They will work closely with senior leaders across the organization to identify opportunities to leverage data-driven insights and drive business growth.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Define and execute the strategic vision for the data science function, including the development of Artificial Intelligence / Gen AI / Advanced Analytical models and algorithms, the integration of data science insights into business decisions, and the optimization of data-driven processes and workflows.
• Lead a team of data scientists and oversee the development of data-driven models, algorithms, and tools that drive business insights and improve decision-making. As the team is small, it is a hands on role, needing to code more than 50% of the time.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, both global and local, to identify and prioritize high-impact business problems and develop solutions using data-driven approaches.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders across the organization, both global and local (including director level) and communicate complex data science insights in a clear and actionable way.
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the company's data architecture, data sources, and analytical tools to ensure high-quality data inputs and outputs.
• Define and track key performance metrics related to data science projects and ensure they align with business goals and objectives.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Specific Knowledge

• Strong understanding of data science concepts, tools, and techniques, including machine learning, statistical modeling, data mining, and data visualization.
• Experience working with large and complex datasets and extracting insights from unstructured data.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R, with experience in SQL and other data manipulation languages.
• Practical experience with the Big Data Analytics landscape and related tools. Previous experience running analytics on cloud platforms (Azure is an advantage).
• Proven track record of delivering high-impact data-driven solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluent in Spanish & English, both oral and written.
• Experience working abroad and / or with international teams will be an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in data science or a related field, with at least 4-5 years of experience leading a data science team, coaching and mentoring junior team members.
